John and Karen Wilson will be presenting a workshop at the DeafNation World Expo on July 21, 2010 titled:June 10, 2010 John Wilson was honored to be a guest spokesperson at the University of Phoenix.
At the request of Pamela Hardy, John Wilson spoke to her class on the topic of Cultural Diversity which included portions of John's past and experiences while being adopted and living in various foster homes to his current successes.
In one segment of the lecture John stressed the need that in order to make a difference, we need to be the difference and teach our children well. To be stronger role models and educate our youth of the contributions from various cultures rather than stressing negatives.
This was the second time that John has had the honor of addressing students at the University and is grateful that the greater majority of the class was both overwhelmed by his past as well as his desire to be that difference maker.
EnVizion, the Whole Fish Network, WiQii and the San Diego County Foster Youth Mentor Program has started a Cap & Gown Campaign for Foster Children & Disadvantaged graduates residing in San Diego.
It is our anticipation that many Graduating Foster Children will benefit from this project that cannot otherwise afford their caps & gowns.
So far EnVizion has raised over $1,000.00 toward this effort and we are eternally grateful to those who recognize and supported this need.
